Bringing Prevention, Hope, and Health Directly to the Community
On April 11, 2026, Man 2 Man – Urban Youth Advocate, Inc., in partnership with Kaiser Permanente and Palma Ceia Baptist Church, proudly hosted the Healthy Men Build Strong Families & Safe Communities Symposium in Hayward, California.
The event was designed around a simple but powerful belief:
Healthy men build healthy families, and healthy families build safer communities.
For far too long, many men—particularly men of color—have delayed or avoided seeking preventive healthcare. Whether due to fear, lack of access, financial concerns, or cultural stigma, countless men go years without receiving routine medical screenings. This symposium was created to change that.
A Day Focused on Prevention
Throughout the day, men and families received access to free health resources designed to improve both physical and emotional well-being.
Participants had access to:
- Cancer screenings and education
- Blood pressure screenings
- Diabetes risk assessments
- Mental health resources
- Vaccinations and immunizations
- Nutrition education
- Dental health information
- Community resource navigation
- Behavioral health support
For many attendees, this was their first health screening in years.
Several participants learned they had elevated blood pressure and were immediately encouraged to seek follow-up medical care before their condition became life-threatening. Others received education about cancer prevention, diabetes risk factors, and the importance of routine health screenings.
Breaking Down Barriers
The symposium was about much more than healthcare—it was about removing the barriers that often keep men from asking for help.
By creating a welcoming, culturally responsive environment, Man 2 Man helped normalize conversations around men's physical health, mental health, fatherhood, and overall wellness.
When men feel supported rather than judged, they are far more likely to take the first step toward improving their health.
A Community United
The event brought together healthcare professionals, faith leaders, community organizations, and residents who all shared one common goal:
Helping men live longer, healthier lives.
Families attended together, healthcare providers answered questions, and community partners connected participants with ongoing services that extended well beyond the event itself.
Why This Matters
Every health screening has the potential to save a life.
Every elevated blood pressure reading identified early can prevent a stroke.
Every cancer screening can lead to early detection.
Every conversation about mental health can save a family.
Prevention is not simply about healthcare—it is about protecting fathers, husbands, sons, grandfathers, and the families who depend on them.

Looking Ahead
This symposium is only the beginning.
Man 2 Man remains committed to expanding community-based health initiatives that increase access to preventive care, reduce health disparities, encourage men to seek regular medical care, and strengthen families through healthier fathers and healthier communities.
Because when men are healthy, families are stronger. And when families are stronger, communities thrive.
