Why Just $60? Because Changing Lives Shouldn’t Be Left to Hope

Sat, 07/19/2025 - 11:08 PM
At Man 2 Man – Urban Youth Advocate, we do the work that so many say needs to be done:
-
We walk with fathers who are returning home after incarceration.
-
We stand with sons who have never known what a father’s love feels like.
-
We fight cycles of trauma, poverty, and silence — and build men into leaders, protectors, and providers.
But here’s the hard truth: We can’t do it alone.
Everyone Agrees… But Few Step Up
You’ve probably heard someone say, “We need more programs like this.” Maybe you’ve said it yourself.
You’ve probably nodded at a post about fatherless homes, youth violence, or mass incarceration and thought, “That’s a shame.”
But here’s the question we must ask — lovingly, but directly:
If you believe the work is important… why not support it?
Is it time? Is it money? Is it that someone else will do it?
Here’s the reality: We aren’t funded by big corporations. We’re funded by community. People just like you who believe a dollar can change a life — and that action speaks louder than sympathy.
What Can $60 Do?
Right now, we’re asking 1,000 people to give $60. That’s it.
Not $600. Not $6,000. Just $60 — the cost of a night out, a tank of gas, or your favorite pair of sneakers.
But what can your $60 do?
-
Sponsor a man’s emotional intelligence workbook — helping him understand and manage emotions for the first time in his life.
-
Provide a week of training in parenting and conflict resolution to a father trying to reunite with his children.
-
Supply a reentry care backpack with hygiene items, bus passes, and fresh hope.
-
Keep our doors open when funding gaps threaten to shut them.
You Can Also Give Time
Maybe $60 isn’t possible for you right now — but can you give time?
-
Can you help us share this campaign with 10 people?
-
Can you volunteer once a month?
-
Can you mentor a young man for one hour a week?
This isn’t just about money. It’s about belief.
If Not Us, Then Who?
If we don’t invest in our fathers, sons, and brothers — who will?
If we don’t believe these men are worth the effort — who will?
If we don’t fund the work we claim to care about — what are we really saying?
